Finally Here: Expanded Color Options for Google Calendar Events

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (local time), Google announced a major update to its calendar service, Google Calendar, featuring a significant expansion of “event color” variations.

Now, about half a month later, in early July 2026, these expanded color options for Google Calendar events have finally been rolled out.

As the name suggests, “Event colors” is a feature in Google Calendar that allows you to change the color of your scheduled items. Previously, there were only 11 colors available. With this major update, users can now select from 24 default colors and create up to 200 custom colors using a full RGB color picker.

The full RGB color picker is currently available on the web version of Google Calendar and via the Google Calendar API.
