- Google announces the integration of the Android “Google Play Store” with the Android version of the Gemini app.
- Users can now search for new utility and game apps through natural conversation and install them seamlessly.
- Purchases of in-app items and “Google Play Gift Cards” are also supported.
On Friday, June 26, 2026 (local time), Google announced the rollout of a new integration between its AI, “Gemini,” and the Android app store, “Google Play Store,” specifically for the Android version of the Gemini app.
In the “Gemini” app, you can receive smarter, specialized support by enabling integration features for specific apps through the “Extensions” settings. The “Google Play Store” has now been added to this list of available extensions. Please note that this feature is exclusive to the Android version of the Gemini app.

By connecting the “Google Play Store” to the Android Gemini app, users can search for new utility and game apps using natural language and install them seamlessly. For example, if you ask the Gemini app to “find a meditation app,” it will suggest the best options, allowing you to install them directly without leaving the Gemini app. You can also make purchases for in-app items and “Google Play Gift Cards.”
The integration of the “Google Play Store” into the Android Gemini app is being rolled out gradually.
