On Monday, June 22, 2026 (local time), Akis Evangelidis (@AkisEvangelidis), co-founder of the British venture company Nothing Technologies (Nothing), released an overview of the upcoming “(b)” series.

While the Nothing “(b)” series is expected to be announced as the “Phone (b)” smartphone line, Akis Evangelidis clarified that the “(b)” series will be developed as a new product segment, separate from Nothing’s popular best-selling “Phone (a)” smartphone series. This announcement effectively confirms that the Nothing “(b)” series will indeed be branded as the “Phone (b)” series.

The “Phone (b)” series appears to be built upon the success of the “Phone (a)” series. Furthermore, it was reiterated that in Nothing’s naming convention, the digits represent the generation and the letters represent the product segment, confirming that “(b)” follows “(a)” as a continuation of this sequence.

In other words, it seems there is no deeper significance behind the use of “(a)” or “(b)” other than representing distinct product segments.
