The Focus Metrics dashboard on the “Today” tab has been expanded, allowing you to view more metrics without swiping right or switching to other tabs (can be configured by tapping the pencil icon and selecting “Expanded View”).
Simplified Metric Reordering
Reordering metrics in the “Today” tab is now easier. You can change the order by entering edit mode (tap the pencil icon), tapping a metric, and then selecting another metric to swap it with.
■ “Health” Tab Updates
Simplified “Key Metrics” Reordering
You can now reorder charts in the “Key Metrics” section of the “Health” tab via drag-and-drop (tap “Customize,” then long-press the chart you want to move and drag it to the desired position). *Available on Android v5.0.2; support for iOS is planned for the next v5.0.3 release.
■ Sleep Feature Updates
Improved “Restlessness” Display
A “Restlessness” bar has been placed near the sleep stage graph to improve data correlation (detection accuracy for minor wakefulness has also been improved). *Further improvements are planned for the future.
Easier Access to Nap Data
Recorded nap data is now easier to find and track over time (nap data can be viewed from a separate tab on the daily sleep score screen). *Available on Android v5.0.2; support for iOS is planned for the next v5.0.3 release.
Full Support for Deleting Sleep Sessions
Sleep sessions can now be fully deleted from within the app.
Fixed Sleep Session Editing Errors
Fixed a bug where some users were unable to edit sleep sessions.
■ Fitness and Activity Updates
Return of the “Hourly Activity” Feature
The hourly activity chart (hourly step goal) is back in the “Today” and “Health” tabs (can be added to the dashboard via the pencil icon on the “Today” tab or “Customize” on the “Health” tab).
Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements (Workout Summary)
Fixed a bug where steps or distance were incorrectly displayed as “0” in some manually recorded activities.
Fixed a bug where the distance for automatically detected bike rides was displayed as extremely short. *Distance display for auto-detected bike rides is currently unsupported.
■ Nutrition Management Updates
Faster Food Search
Search result speed has been improved on both Android and iOS (on Android, serving units and calories are now displayed in search results). *iOS support coming soon.
Estimated Macronutrient Display During Logging
Estimated macronutrient values are now displayed on the main meal logging page, allowing for a preview before confirming the log.
Updated Nutrition Tile on “Today” Tab
The nutrition tile on the “Today” tab has been updated from the traditional “Net Calories” focus to display “Calories Consumed” (top number) and “Calories Remaining” (bottom number).
■ Log Management from Third-Party Apps
Support for Direct Deletion within the App
Individual workout/meal/weight logs synced from other apps can now be deleted directly from within the Google Health app without going through the “Privacy Center” (tap the session or log you want to delete, then use the three-dot menu or trash icon).
For Data Imported via “Health Connect” or “Apple Health”
Executing a deletion will direct you to the platform’s management screen so the data can also be deleted there. *Future updates will allow for deleting synced data within the Google Health app only, without needing to delete from the platform side.
For Data Imported via Direct Integration Apps
Deletion is completed smoothly within the Google Health app alone.
