On Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (local time), Google announced a major expansion of the “Event Colors” feature for its calendar service, Google Calendar.

As the name suggests, “Event Colors” in Google Calendar allows users to change the color of their scheduled events. Until now, however, there were only 11 available color options.

With this update, the feature has been significantly expanded, offering 24 default colors and up to 200 custom colors using a full RGB color picker. Please note that the full RGB color picker is available for the web version of Google Calendar and the Google Calendar API.

This expansion of Google Calendar’s “Event Colors” is a long-awaited feature that has been requested by users for years. It’s finally here.
