On Tuesday, June 16, 2026 (local time), Android Product Manager Paul Dunlop (@pauldunlop) announced new features for the “Android Switch” app, which manages data transfers during Android-to-Android or iPhone-to-Android migrations, in conjunction with the official launch of the new-generation “Android 17” OS.

The “Android Switch” app has seen significant evolution alongside “Android 17,” tackling long-standing challenges in cross-platform migration from iPhone to Android. Key improvements include the ability to migrate (replicate) iMessage data, new APIs for in-app data transfer, and the migration of attachments and tags (labels) from Notes apps. Furthermore, data transfer via Wi-Fi has been upgraded to provide the same quality as a wired connection.

Please note that these new “Android Switch” features are currently being rolled out to select “Android 17” devices. The rollout is scheduled to expand progressively over the coming weeks and months.
