In addition to the new features brought by the “Wear OS 7” update, the Google Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4 series are receiving four specific new features, including improvements to “Raise to Talk,” and the integration of emergency sharing features for “Loss of Pulse Detection,” “Car Crash Detection,” and “Fall Detection.”

■”Raise to Talk” Improvements
  • Improved gesture model makes triggering the “Raise to Talk” feature—where you lift your wrist to speak to Gemini—more reliable and accurate.
■Media Remote Controls
  • Users can now switch audio and video output devices (Google Cast devices, Bluetooth headphones, smart displays, speakers, etc.) directly from their Wear OS watch instead of the paired Android smartphone.
■App Changes
  • “Google Messages” app: New 3-button layout in the contact list screen adds keyboard and voice search functionality.
  • “Contacts” app layout refresh: Added quick action buttons to contact cards, larger contact photos, and better utilization of “Material 3” elements such as favorites in the redesigned contact list.
■Pulse Loss / Car Crash / Fall Detection integrated with Emergency Sharing
  • When “Loss of Pulse,” “Car Crash,” or “Fall Detection” is triggered on a Google Pixel device or Google Pixel Watch 2/3/4, the system now automatically notifies pre-set emergency contacts.
“Wear OS 7” Major Update New Features

Software updates for the Google Pixel Watch series are delivered via Over the Air (OTA). You can check if the update is available by navigating to the Wear OS settings: [System] → [System updates].

  1. Tap [System] in the Wear OS settings.
  2. Tap [System updates].

As a little pro-tip, repeatedly tapping the watch icon on the [System updates] screen often forces the software update to appear more quickly. This trick still works on the Google Pixel Watch 4 as well.
