On Friday, June 5, 2026 (local time), Google announced the rollout of direct image generation and editing features for its real-time AI conversation service, “Gemini Live.”
In “Gemini Live” on the Android and iOS versions of the “Gemini” app, you can now activate camera sharing mode, point your camera at a subject, and give instructions to create or edit an image. The AI will then generate or edit the image on your screen based on your request.
Below is an example of what happens when you say, “Change these earphones to blue.” The image was generated in about 30 seconds.

The direct image generation and editing feature for “Gemini Live” has already been deployed to the “Gemini” app for Android and iOS.
