Android Google Password Manager Now Supports Passkey Import and Export

Key Points of This Article
  • Google has announced new import and export functionality for passwords and “passkeys” for the Android “Google Password Manager” in the “Google System Release Notes,” which consolidate information on “Google System Updates.”
  • With the Android “Google Play Services” app v26.21, support for exporting and importing “passkeys” is finally being introduced.
  • However, this support is for importing/exporting “passkeys” between third-party password managers that comply with credential exchange standards.

Google has announced new import and export features for passwords and “passkeys” as part of the Android “Google Password Manager,” as detailed in the Google System Release Notes. These notes, which provide information on Google System Updates to improve the security and reliability of Android devices, were released on Monday, June 1, 2026.

While the current “Google Password Manager” already supports the importing and exporting of IDs and passwords via CSV files, it has not yet supported the importing or exporting of “passkeys.” However, this is finally changing with the Android “Google Play Services” app version 26.21.

It is important to note that this functionality is designed for importing/exporting “passkeys” between third-party password managers that are compatible with credential exchange standards, and it is expected to be officially rolled out with Android “Google Play Services” app version 26.21 and later.
