Key Points of This Article
  • On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the long-awaited “Google Health” app renewal finally arrived.
  • The renewal to the “Google Health” app began with version v5.00 of the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • The new “Google Health” app supports simultaneous pairing of two Fitbit wearable devices.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026 (local time), Google announced that as part of its healthcare feature integration, the Android and iOS “Fitbit” app, provided by its subsidiary fitness tracker manufacturer Fitbit, would be renewed into the new “Google Health” app, starting on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

And on Thursday, May 21, 2026, the “Google Health” app renewal finally arrived. It was first rolled out to the iOS version of the “Fitbit” app via the version v5.00 update, rebranding it as the “Google Health” app.

While we have not yet confirmed the update for the Android version of the “Google Health” app, it is scheduled to be renewed by Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The “Google Health” App

The “Google Health” app is a new healthcare management application rebranded from the Android/iOS “Fitbit” app as part of Google’s integration of healthcare features.

The app features a layout composed of four tabs at the bottom: “Today,” “Fitness,” “Sleep,” and “Health.” This intuitive design is intended to make it easier than ever for users to oversee and understand their health status and data trends. It connects with compatible apps and devices through the Android “Health Connect” app, the “Apple Health” app, and the “Google Health API,” allowing for centralized management of healthcare data across multiple services.

A major highlight of the “Google Health” app is the integration of the “Google Health Coach,” formerly known as the “Personal Health Coach” powered by Gemini, which officially launched on May 19, 2026. Through natural conversations and inquiries with Gemini, users can receive personalized workout suggestions and timely insights based on their current “Today” condition.

Furthermore, the app offers more personalized healthcare features, such as an expanded leaderboard for competing on step counts with friends and an evolved cycle tracking function that clearly displays correlations with sleep and overall condition. While the “Fitbit” app has been rebranded to “Google Health,” the core functionality inherited from the legacy “Fitbit” app remains intact.

In addition, the “Google Health” app now supports simultaneous pairing of two Fitbit wearable devices. While the old “Fitbit” app was generally limited to pairing only one Fitbit device, the “Google Health” app overcomes this restriction.

This means that users can now effectively use two devices simultaneously, such as wearing a “Google Pixel Watch 4” during exercise and throughout the day, and switching to a “Fitbit Air” for sleep tracking.
