Google announced a variety of new features and services at “Google I/O 2026,” the developer event held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

As in previous years, this year’s “Google I/O 2026” was packed with content—so much so that it was hard to keep track of every update. Google has noted that 2026 will be a milestone year, particularly for the Google AI “Gemini” app.

In this article, we will introduce the 6 new features for the “Gemini” app announced at “Google I/O 2026,” following official information from Google. The six features are: “Gemini 3.5 Flash,” “Neural Expressive,” “Gemini Live” integration, “Gemini Omni,” “Daily Brief,” and “Gemini Spark.”

“Gemini 3.5 Flash”

At “Google I/O 2026,” Google officially announced “Gemini 3.5,” the latest model family of Google AI “Gemini.”

The biggest evolution of the “Gemini 3.5” model is its significantly enhanced capability as an AI agent. As the first release in the “Gemini 3.5” lineup, “Gemini 3.5 Flash” has been launched, delivering state-of-the-art performance in agent tasks and coding.

As the name suggests, “Gemini 3.5 Flash” is characterized by its high processing speed, capable of generating responses up to 4 times faster than previous models while maintaining high-quality output.

“Gemini 3.5 Pro” is also scheduled for release next month, in June 2026.

“Neural Expressive”

Google officially announced “Neural Expressive,” a new design language being integrated into the “Gemini” app.

“Neural Expressive” is a fresh and engaging design language featuring fluid animations, vibrant colors, new typography, and haptic feedback. With “Neural Expressive,” Gemini provides more compelling and intuitive answers by incorporating not only long-form text but also rich images, interactive timelines, narrated videos, and dynamic graphics.

“Gemini Live” Integration

Along with the “Neural Expressive” design language, Google announced the integration of the intuitive conversational service “Gemini Live” directly into the “Gemini” app experience at “Google I/O 2026.”

“Gemini Live,” now integrated into the app, enables more natural conversations. Furthermore, support for regional dialects is planned for the future.

“Gemini Omni”

At “Google I/O 2026,” Google officially announced “Gemini Omni,” a new family of AI models capable of high-quality video generation and editing by combining multimodal inputs such as images, audio, video, and text.

“Gemini Omni” allows users to request video generation and editing through simple, natural conversation. You can change elements within a video or add new objects while maintaining character consistency and contextual awareness.

It also features the ability to generate a digital avatar based on the user’s own appearance and voice. With built-in templates, even users without professional equipment or technical skills can easily create and edit videos.

“Gemini Omni Flash,” the first model in the “Gemini Omni” series, will be rolled out to “Google AI Plus,” “Google AI Pro,” and “Google AI Ultra” members via the “Gemini” app and “Flow.” It is also scheduled to be available for free on “YouTube Shorts.”

“Daily Brief”

Google officially announced “Daily Brief,” a new productivity feature that delivers a morning email summarizing your daily schedule, key tasks, and other latest information.

“Daily Brief” is powered by “CC,” an AI agent feature based on Google AI “Gemini” that has been in experimental development on “Google Labs” in the US and Canada since December 16, 2025. Once you opt in, it integrates with “Gmail,” “Google Calendar,” “Google Drive,” and the web to provide a concise briefing of your day.

“Daily Brief” doesn’t just summarize information; it also suggests actionable next steps, actively guiding the user toward achieving their goals.

“Daily Brief” will be rolled out sequentially to “Google AI Plus,” “Google AI Pro,” and “Google AI Ultra” members in the United States.

“Gemini Spark”

At “Google I/O 2026,” Google officially announced “Gemini Spark,” a personal AI agent for “Google AI Ultra” members that supports your digital life 24/7.

“Gemini Spark” is an evolution of the “Gemini Agent” provided to “Google AI Ultra” members. Based on “Google Antigravity,” Google’s next-generation autonomous AI programming environment, it integrates with “Google Workspace” tools like “Gmail,” “Google Docs,” and “Google Sheets.” It performs tasks in the background even when your PC is closed or your smartphone is locked.

“Gemini Spark” also supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) connections for external data and systems, such as “Canva,” “OpenTable,” and “Instacart.” This list of supported services will continue to expand, along with the addition of new features.

Additional features, such as text and email sending, custom sub-agent creation, and local browser operation, are also planned for future updates.
