On Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (local time), Google announced the introduction of new voice features—”Gmail Live,” “Docs Live,” and “Keep Live”—for its groupware service, Google Workspace, during the company’s developer event, “Google I/O 2026.”
“Gmail Live,” “Docs Live,” and “Keep Live” provide functionality equivalent to “Gemini Live” and “Search Live” directly within each service. These features will be released as a preview in the summer of 2026 for members of “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra,” as well as for Google Workspace business accounts.
“Gmail Live”
“Gmail Live” is a feature that allows you to ask questions about the information in your inbox and receive verbal answers.
By asking questions like, “What is the boarding gate number for today’s flight?” or “What events are happening at my child’s school this week?”, the feature searches your inbox for the relevant information and provides the answer via voice.
“Docs Live”
“Docs Live” is a feature designed to support you in creating initial drafts using only your voice.
While you talk to “Docs Live,” it assists you in organizing your thoughts, structuring your document, and extracting relevant information from Gmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, and the web to help you write.
“Keep Live”
“Keep Live” is a feature that lets you save notes simply by speaking your ideas or thoughts as they come to mind.
It goes beyond simple speech-to-text transcription by organizing your spoken input and converting it into structured notes or lists.
