On Tuesday, May 19, 2026 (local time), Google announced the release of “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3” for Google Pixel devices enrolled in the pre-release Android OS trial program, the “Android Beta Program,” during its developer event “Google I/O 2026.”

“Android 17 QPR1,” the base for this beta, is the first Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) update following the official launch of Android 17. Following the release of “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1” on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, and the subsequent second minor update, “Beta 2,” Google has now introduced the third minor update, “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3.”

One more thing. the third beta of our Android 17 quarterly platform release (QPR1) just came out, and it contains a minor SDK release to support a few features that just couldn’t wait for QPR2.

“Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3” is being distributed via Over-the-Air (OTA) update to Google Pixel devices enrolled in the program, including Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Fold, Tablet, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, and 10a. Notably, since “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1,” the new generation affordable model “Pixel 10a” has been added to the Android Beta Program lineup.

“Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3” focuses on fixes and improvements over the previous Beta 1 and Beta 2 versions. The following seven issues have been resolved:

  • Fixed a recurring system error in ContextHubClientManager that caused excessive logcat noise when attempting to send messages to unregistered clients.
  • Fixed an issue where tapping the date in “At a Glance” would prompt the user to open the terminal.
  • Fixed an issue where Wi-Fi would unexpectedly disconnect due to false low-quality detection, despite strong signal strength.
  • Fixed an issue where audio frequently cracked or distorted during media playback from any source.
  • Fixed an issue where UI elements were partially clipped or positioned off-screen when apps were expanded to full-screen mode.
  • Fixed an issue where home screen widgets would disappear after a device restart or become unavailable in the widget picker.
  • Fixed an issue where the mobile data icon in the Quick Settings panel would incorrectly remain active after enabling Airplane mode.
“Beta 3 (May 2026)” Bug Fixes

Following the “Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3” update, the build number will be “CP31.260423.012.A1,” and the “Google Play Services” app will be updated to v26.15.32 or later. The Android security patch remains unchanged from the previous version, dated “April 5, 2026.”
