- Rolling out gradually, starting with the “Google Meet” app for devices running Android 16.1 or later.
On Thursday, May 14, 2026 (local time), Google announced a new developer-focused feature for Android: the integration of VoIP app call logs into the default system Phone app.
On Android devices, users often juggle between standard voice calling apps—such as the default Google Phone app—and VoIP (Internet calling) apps like Google Meet or LINE. Currently, call histories are managed separately within each individual app, meaning users must launch specific apps to return calls.
However, with the new integration feature rolling out to the default Phone app, voice call and VoIP app histories will be consolidated, allowing users to review all call logs in a single unified view. Naturally, when placing a return call from this consolidated log, the corresponding app will be launched automatically.
This new feature eliminates the hassle of switching between different calling apps. It is being introduced as part of the new “Jetpack Telecom v1.1.0” development library, meaning that individual apps must implement support to enable this integration. For privacy considerations, a setting (Call Log Exclusion) will also be provided to allow users to opt out of integrating specific VoIP call histories into the default Phone app.
This VoIP call log integration feature is launching for Android devices running Android 16.1 or later, beginning with a gradual rollout for the Google Meet app. To prevent abuse by malicious apps, Google plans to expand the rollout in phases while maintaining secure list management to help prevent spam calls.
