On Tuesday, May 12, 2026 (local time), Google officially announced new devices that will support interoperability between the Android proximity sharing feature “Quick Share” and Apple’s “AirDrop,” including the “Pixel 8a” and “Pixel 9a.”
Previously, support for “Quick Share” and “AirDrop” interoperability was limited to Google Pixel devices from the “Pixel 9” series onwards (excluding the “Pixel 9a”), the Samsung “Galaxy S26” series, the “OPPO Find X9” series and “OPPO Find N6,” and the “Vivo X300 Ultra.” However, this announcement adds new devices such as the “Pixel 8a,” “Pixel 9a,” and the “Galaxy S24” and “Galaxy S25” series to the list.
While devices like the “Pixel 8a” and “Pixel 9a” will be supported immediately, some other devices are expected to gain support by June 2026. This indicates that the rollout will be phased.
