On Tuesday, May 12, 2026 (local time), Google announced a major update to the data transfer process for switching from iOS to Android.

With this newly announced process, users can now wirelessly transfer not only traditional data like photos, contacts, message history, and calendars, but also passwords, favorite apps, and even home screen layouts. This new feature has been made possible through collaboration with Apple.

Additionally, “eSIM transfer” is scheduled to be released first for Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices within 2026.
