On Tuesday, May 12, 2026 (local time), Google officially announced “Googlebook,” a new laptop brand designed for the next-generation intelligent system, “Gemini Intelligence.”
“Googlebook” features an all-new OS that combines the best aspects of the highly extensible Android and the lightweight, popular ChromeOS. These laptops are developed by partner companies including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, and will be available in various shapes and sizes.
While specific details regarding the “Googlebook” product lineup and release dates have not yet been announced, more information is expected to be revealed leading up to the launch in the fall of 2026.
Designed for “Gemini Intelligence”
“Googlebook” is a brand new laptop line built from the ground up for the next-generation intelligent system, “Gemini Intelligence.”
Googlebook comes equipped with the “Magic Pointer” feature, which allows “Gemini” to understand context and instantly suggest optimal actions simply by hovering your cursor over text or images on the screen. For example, it can schedule meetings from dates found in emails or instantly arrange two images side-by-side, such as a living room and a new sofa.
It also includes “Create My Widget,” a custom widget generation feature that allows you to create original widgets simply by describing the functionality you want using natural language prompts.
Seamless Workflow with Android
“Googlebook” includes features that allow you to operate Android apps directly on your screen and “Quick Access,” which lets you view, search for, and use files from your Android device directly through the Googlebook file browser.
The device is characterized by providing a seamless workflow when used alongside an Android device. Furthermore, because “Googlebook” is built on parts of Android technology, new features can be deployed more rapidly.
