iOS Google Photos: Rolling Out ‘Remix’ and ‘Create with AI’ Integration

Key Points of This Article
  • With the iOS Google Photos app update v7.75.0, released around May 7, 2026, “Remix” and “Create with AI” have finally been integrated.
  • For some reason, the iOS version of the Google Photos app has integrated “Remix” and “Create with AI” under the name “Create with AI.”
  • While the naming differs—”Remix photos” on Android versus “Create with AI” on iOS—the functionality is identical.

On April 30, 2026, Google officially announced the integration of its AI editing features, “Remix” and “Create with AI,” into a single feature called “Remix photos.”

The integration of “Remix” and “Create with AI” was spotted on the Android version of the Google Photos app between mid-to-late April 2026, leading up to the official announcement at the end of the month. Meanwhile, this integration had not been observed in the iOS version of the Google Photos app until the v7.75.0 update, which was released around May 7, 2026, and finally confirmed the merger of the two features.

However, while the Android app integrates them under the name “Remix photos,” for some reason, the iOS app has grouped them under “Create with AI.” Despite the difference in naming—”Remix photos” on Android and “Create with AI” on iOS—the underlying functionality is exactly the same.

It would be nice if they could unify the naming to either “Remix,” “Create with AI,” or “Remix photos.”

For context, the former “Remix” is an AI editing feature that allows users to transform their photos stored in Google Photos by selecting various styles (such as Anime, Sketch, or 3D Animation). It began its full-scale rollout in Japan in December 2025.

The former “Create with AI” is an AI image generation content feature powered by the “Nano Banana” image generation model. It offers templated versions of popular AI editing functions, such as “Add me to a high-fashion photo,” “Create a professional headshot,” or “Add me to a winter holiday card.” By selecting a photo from your library and an AI template, the service generates a new AI image based on your photo.

The rollout for this feature began in Japan in February 2026.
