Fitbit Premium Rebrands to “Google Health Premium” with Over 2x Price Hike

Key Points of This Article
  • Quiet announcement regarding the rebranding of “Fitbit Premium,” the subscription service for Fitbit devices, to “Google Health Premium.”
  • “Google Health Premium” sees a significant price increase, more than doubling from “Fitbit Premium.”
  • However, it has been added as a complimentary benefit for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” memberships.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026 (local time), as part of a revamp of its healthcare services, Google officially announced the “Fitbit Air” screenless wearable tracker, the “Google Health” app, and “Google Health Coach.”

The “Fitbit” app is rebranding to the “Google Health” app, the “Personal Health Coach” that was previously available as a public preview is being relaunched as “Google Health Coach,” and the screenless “Fitbit Air” will be released as a new wearable device supporting these apps and features.

Amidst these announcements, the rebranding of “Fitbit Premium”—the subscription service for Fitbit devices including the “Google Pixel Watch” series—to “Google Health Premium” was quietly unveiled. The reason for this quiet announcement is likely due to the significant price revision.

While “Fitbit Premium” costs 680 yen (incl. tax) per month ($9.99 USD), the new “Google Health Premium” will cost 1,580 yen (incl. tax) per month ($15.99 USD), more than doubling in price. For annual plans, it is priced at 15,800 yen (incl. tax) ($159.99 USD).

However, alongside the transition from “Fitbit Premium” to “Google Health Premium,” the service is being added as a complimentary benefit for “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” memberships. In other words, while the price of “Google Health Premium” has more than doubled compared to “Fitbit Premium,” it effectively becomes free for users with “Google AI Pro” or “Google AI Ultra” memberships.

Especially considering “Google AI Pro” is 2,900 yen (incl. tax) per month, the addition of “Google Health Premium” as a free benefit offers significant value.

Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers will now also enjoy Google Health Premium at no extra cost, bringing even more value to these customers.

Google Health Coach is now available to Premium users

“Google Health Premium” is a subscription service designed to fully utilize the features of “Google Health Coach,” the rebranded version of the previously available public preview, “Personal Health Coach.” “Google Health Coach” will officially launch on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Even without a “Google Health Premium” subscription, users can still access basic functions such as activity tracking, sleep tracking, and general health management. However, AI-driven analysis and the AI-based “Ask a Coach” interactive feature—the hallmarks of “Google Health Coach”—will not be available. Furthermore, it is expected that existing “Fitbit Premium” members will be prompted for consent when switching to “Google Health Premium.”
