- Google has announced the renewal of its Android/iOS “Fitbit” app into the new “Google Health” app.
- The renewal will roll out sequentially starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026, through an update to the “Fitbit” app.
- The standout feature of the “Google Health” app is the integration of the Gemini-powered “Google Health Coach” (formerly known as “Personal Health Coach”).
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, Google announced that as part of its initiative to integrate its healthcare features, the “Fitbit” app for Android and iOS—provided by its subsidiary and fitness tracker manufacturer, Fitbit—will be renewed as the new “Google Health” app.
The new “Google Health” app for Android and iOS will be rolled out sequentially starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026, via an update to the existing “Fitbit” app. Consequently, there is no need for users to perform a separate installation.
Furthermore, as part of the integration of Google’s healthcare services, the features of the “Google Fit” app will be merged into the “Google Health” app in late 2026. Detailed instructions regarding this migration will be provided at a later date.
“Google Health” App

The “Google Health” app is a new healthcare management application that replaces the Android/iOS “Fitbit” app as part of Google’s effort to unify its healthcare ecosystem.
The app features a layout centered around four tabs at the bottom: “Today,” “Fitness,” “Sleep,” and “Health.” Its intuitive design is intended to make it easier than ever for users to overview and understand their health status and data trends. By connecting with the Android “Health Connect” app, “Apple Health,” and the “Google Health API,” the app can integrate with various services and devices, allowing for the centralized management of healthcare data across multiple platforms.
The biggest feature of the “Google Health” app is the integration of “Google Health Coach” (formerly “Personal Health Coach”), a Gemini-powered health coaching service. Through natural conversation and inquiries with Gemini, users can receive tailored training menu suggestions and timely insights based on their current “Today” condition.
Additionally, the app offers more personalized healthcare features, such as an expanded leaderboard for competing with friends on step counts and advanced cycle tracking that clearly illustrates correlations between sleep, daily condition, and other factors. While the “Fitbit” app is being rebranded as “Google Health,” the foundational features will be inherited from the original “Fitbit” application.
