On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Google launched a new feature for the Gemini AI app that allows users to generate and download files directly.

Previously, the Gemini app only allowed users to copy responses or export them to Google Sheets and Google Docs. With this update, you can now generate, download, and export files to Google Drive in a wide variety of formats, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, PDF (.pdf), Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), CSV (.csv), LaTeX, plain text (TXT), Rich Text Format (RTF), and Markdown (MD). This eliminates the need to manually copy and paste content to save it into separate files.

The file generation and download feature for the Gemini app is now being rolled out across all platforms globally.
