What’s New in Fitbit: New “Personal Health Coach” Features Announced (v4.68)

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, Google-owned fitness tracker manufacturer Fitbit announced new features for the public preview of its “Personal Health Coach,” which is powered by Google’s “Gemini” AI. The service began rolling out in early April 2026 to Fitbit Premium members via the Fitbit app for Android and iOS.

The new public preview features cover two main categories: Coaching & Workouts and Sleep, with additional updates planned for the future. For Coaching & Workouts, four new features have been introduced: fitness coach recommendations, step-by-step workout execution, coaching messages in the “Today” tab, and conversational check-ins. For the Sleep category, two new features have been added: an updated sleep score and the ability to edit sleep logs.

These new features are expected to be available in the Fitbit app for Android and iOS version 4.68 and later. Additionally, a future feature for adjusting fitness plans has also been teased.

■ Coaching & Workout Features
  • Fitness Coach Recommendations: Based on user feedback, fitness coaching is now more flexible. Users will soon receive “Weekly Goals” and “Recommended Workouts” customized to help them reach their health objectives.
  • Step-by-Step Workout Execution: The coach-suggested workouts now include new step-by-step guidance, allowing users to follow along more smoothly.
  • Coaching Messages in the “Today” Tab: Personalized messages, such as “Morning Moments,” post-workout recaps, and end-of-day/week updates, will now appear in the “Today” tab.
  • Conversational Check-ins: The text-based check-in feature has been overhauled to allow for more natural, conversational interactions with your coach.
■ Sleep Features
  • Updated Sleep Score: A new sleep score has been introduced, providing more transparency in how the score is calculated so users can better understand their daily rest quality.
  • Editing Sleep Logs: Manual editing of sleep logs is now available in the Fitbit app for Android, with availability for the iOS version coming soon.
    • How to Edit Sleep Logs: Tap last night’s “Sleep Summary” → Tap “︙ (Menu)” → Tap “Edit Sleep.”
■ Upcoming Features
  • Fitness Plan Adjustment: In future updates, users will be able to flexibly customize their plans through conversational interactions with their coach, or by using the “Adapt missions” and “Adapt workout” buttons within the “Fitness” tab.

  • Step-by-step Workout Execution: Complete workouts from your Coach with new step-by-step workout guidance.
  • Adapt your Fitness Plans (Coming soon): You will soon be able to adapt your workout plans through conversational interactions with your coach or by using the Adapt missions or Adapt workout buttons in the Fitness tab. This feature is coming in a later update—stay tuned!
  • Coach Messages in the Today tab: Stay motivated with personalized messages throughout your day, including Morning Moments, Post-Workout Summaries, and End-of-Day or End-of-Week updates in the Today tab.
  • Conversational Check-Ins: Interact with your coach more naturally using the revamped text check-in feature.
  • Revamped Sleep Score: Get a better understanding of your rest with a new Sleep Score and a more transparent view of how your score is calculated. To learn more see our blog post
  • Edit Your Sleep (Android only): You can now edit your Sleep logs. To do so, tap on sleep summary from last night, tap on the 3 dots, and tap Edit Sleep. Please provide feedback on any issues you experience. This feature will be available on iOS soon.
