  • “Notebooks” created in the Gemini app are now synced with “NotebookLM.”

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Google announced the integration of the AI research tool “NotebookLM” into the Google “Gemini” app.

A few days after the announcement, the web version of the “Gemini” app began rolling out a new “Notebooks” category as part of the NotebookLM integration. Around Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as previously announced by Google, this “Notebooks” category rollout also began for the Android and iOS versions of the “Gemini” app.

Previously, in the “Gemini” app, you could only attach existing “Notebooks” created in “NotebookLM” as files. However, with this full integration, you can now use “NotebookLM” features directly within the Gemini interface. You can create new “Notebooks” from within the Gemini app, upload source materials, and issue prompts to summarize or analyze those sources, just as you would in “NotebookLM.”

This integration ensures that “Notebooks” are mutually synced between the “Gemini” app and “NotebookLM.” In other words, “Notebooks” created in the Gemini app will appear in NotebookLM, and vice-versa. Naturally, you can also utilize “Studio” content generation features—such as audio overviews, video explanations, and infographics—within NotebookLM.

The integration of “NotebookLM” into the “Gemini” app is currently being rolled out starting with “Google One” AI Premium plan members (Google AI Ultra, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Plus), with a rollout for free-tier users also planned for the future.
