On Friday, April 17, 2026, Google announced a new timestamp sharing feature for the YouTube app on Android and iOS.
The YouTube timestamp sharing feature allows users to specify a particular point in a video to start playback when shared. While this functionality has long been available on the web version of YouTube, it has finally arrived on the mobile apps for Android and iOS.
However, the process is slightly complex. First, open the video and play it to the specific point you wish to share. Then, tap the share icon and toggle the “x:xx” switch, which is set to OFF by default, to the ON position. Finally, select your preferred sharing method, such as social media or email, to complete the share.
While the steps are straightforward, you must toggle the “x:xx” switch to ON for every individual video when using the timestamp sharing feature.

Additionally, in conjunction with the rollout of the timestamp sharing feature for the Android and iOS apps, the “Clips” feature, which allowed users to share 5–60 second highlights, has been discontinued.
