A new direct location-sharing feature called “Share Current Location” has been suddenly rolled out for the Android version of Google Maps, allowing users to share their current location in just 2 to 3 taps.

The “Share Current Location” feature, now available in the Android Google Maps app, enables users to share their whereabouts by simply opening the app, tapping the “Share Current Location” icon, and selecting the desired application from the displayed sharing menu. Previously, users had to open the app, tap the blue dot representing their current location, and then select “Share location.” With “Share Current Location,” the process is now much smoother and more direct, allowing for instant sharing.

At present, “Share Current Location” appears to be exclusive to the Android version of the Google Maps app, with confirmation in app version v26.15. It has not yet been observed on the web or iOS versions of Google Maps.
