On Friday, April 10, 2026, Google announced the expansion of the restaurant reservation feature within the “Agent capabilities” of its AI search “AI mode.” This feature was first launched as an opt-in early experiment via “Search Labs” for subscribers of the premium “Google AI Ultra” membership in the US in August 2025, followed by a public release within the United States in November 2025.

The “Agent capabilities” in “AI mode” have now been expanded to eight countries: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Unfortunately, Japan is not currently included in this rollout.

“Agent capabilities”

The “Agent capabilities” within “AI mode” serve as a convenient tool that provides end-to-end support for tasks such as restaurant bookings. By requesting a dinner reservation in “AI mode” with specific criteria—such as the number of guests, date and time, location, and preferred cuisine—the AI will list restaurants that meet your requirements, complete with direct links to booking pages across various online dining reservation platforms.

Users simply need to select their preferred restaurant from the list and complete the reservation.
