Gemini Integration with NotebookLM

Key Points of This Article
  • Google announces the integration of “NotebookLM” into the “Gemini” app.
  • “NotebookLM” features will now be directly accessible within the “Gemini” app.
  • A new “Notebooks” category will be added alongside “Gems” and “Chat” in the Gemini app.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Google announced the integration of its AI research tool, “NotebookLM,” into the Google AI “Gemini” app.

Previously, users could only import “notebooks” created in NotebookLM as attachments within the Gemini app. With this new integration, users will be able to utilize NotebookLM’s powerful features directly within the Gemini interface. Specifically, a new “Notebooks” category will be added to the app, joining existing features like “Gems” and “Chat.”

You will be able to create new notebooks directly from the Gemini app, upload source materials, and request summaries or insights, just as you would within the standard NotebookLM interface.

Notebooks

The integration ensures that notebooks are mutually synced between the Gemini app and NotebookLM. This means that any notebook created in the Gemini app will appear in NotebookLM, and vice versa. Naturally, users will also have access to “Studio” features, such as “Audio Overviews,” “Video Overviews,” and “Infographics,” directly through NotebookLM.

The rollout of this integration will begin with “Google One” AI premium plan members, specifically those subscribed to “Google AI Ultra,” “Google AI Pro,” and “Google AI Plus.” While it will initially launch on the web version of the Gemini app, it is also scheduled to be released for the Gemini app on Android and iOS.

Furthermore, Google plans to expand this NotebookLM integration to free-tier users as well.
