On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Google announced a new feature for the desktop version of its browser, “Chrome”: vertical tabs.
By default, the desktop version of Chrome displays multiple open websites as horizontal tabs across the top of the screen. However, with the newly introduced vertical tabs, users can now display their tabs along the left edge of the screen.
To use vertical tabs in the desktop version of Chrome, simply right-click within the tab bar and select “Show tabs vertically” from the menu that appears.
Vertical tabs make it easier to read website titles compared to horizontal tabs, allowing you to keep track of individual pages even when you have many tabs open.
