We previously reported that the “Google Photos (@Google Photos)” extension had been added to the “Extensions” feature for the web and Android versions of the Gemini app in the Japanese environment, arriving one year after its initial release overseas, allowing users to link their Google Photos accounts to Gemini.
However, at that time, the Google Photos extension was not yet available in the “Extensions” menu for the iOS version of the Gemini app. We have now confirmed that around Friday, April 3, 2026, “Google Photos (@Google Photos)” has indeed been added to the Extensions for the iOS version of the Gemini app in Japan.
The “Google Photos (@Google Photos)” extension is now officially available on the iOS version of the Gemini app in Japan.

By enabling “Google Photos (@Google Photos)” in the Gemini Extensions menu, your Google Photos account is linked to Gemini. This allows you to get answers to questions about photos and videos stored in your Google Photos account, such as “Show me the highlights from my trip to Kyushu last year.”
