On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Google announced the release of “Veo 3.1 Lite,” a cost-focused light model based on its latest video generation AI model, “Veo 3.1,” which is now available to developers.
“Veo 3.1 Lite” is the most cost-efficient model in Google’s family of video generation AI. Its standout feature is that it maintains the same generation speed as “Veo 3.1 Fast” while reducing costs by more than 50%. This enables developers to build applications requiring high-volume video generation on a more accessible budget.
Key features supported by “Veo 3.1 Lite” include “Text-to-Video” and “Image-to-Video” generation, support for both landscape (16:9) and portrait (9:16) aspect ratios, and resolutions of 720p and 1080p. Users can also specify the duration of the generated videos, with options for 4, 6, or 8 seconds.
As it is targeted at developers, “Veo 3.1 Lite” is available via the paid “Gemini API” plan and Google’s AI development platform, “Google AI Studio.” Additionally, a price reduction for “Veo 3.1 Fast” will take effect on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
