In the Google System Release Notes for March 2026, published on Monday, March 30, 2026, regarding the latest Google System Updates—which improve security and reliability for Android-related devices—Google announced the addition of a map view feature to “Wireless Emergency Alerts,” the emergency information notification service provided on Android devices.
Previously, “Wireless Emergency Alerts” notified users of earthquakes, tsunamis, and evacuation information through text and audio. With the addition of the new map view, users can now directly check the affected area and their current location from within the alert notification, enabling them to take prompt action more effectively.
The map view for “Wireless Emergency Alerts” will be added starting with version 26.12 of the Google Play services app for Android.
