- Google has released “Android 17 Beta 3,” the third update to the initial “Android 17 Beta 1” release of the next-generation Android OS, which originally launched on Friday, February 13, 2026.
- The software update is being delivered via Over-the-Air (OTA) to Google Pixel devices from the “Pixel 6” onwards that are enrolled in the “Android Beta Program,” a pre-release Android OS trial program.
- The update introduces several new features and optimizations, including support for the “RAW14” data format—theoretically offering four times the tonal range of 12-bit RAW—support for Bluetooth LE audio hearing aids, the introduction of a “picture-in-picture” feature with an always-on-top specification for “Desktop Mode,” improvements in performance and battery efficiency, and the ability to exclude specific apps from VPN settings.

“Android 17 Beta 3” is being distributed via Over-the-Air (OTA) software update to Google Pixel devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Notably, the new-generation entry-level model, the “Pixel 10a,” is currently not listed as a supported device in the Android Beta Program.
Previously, Google released initial versions of beta OS builds as “Developer Previews.” However, to ensure faster and more consistent updates, these have now been replaced by the “Android Canary” channel. The introduction of the “Android Canary” channel requires a one-time manual factory image flash using the “Android Flash Tool.”
As OTA images for “Android 17 Beta 2” are also available, you can flash “Android 17 Beta 2” using the “Android Flash Tool.”
“Android 17 Beta 3” includes several new features and optimizations, such as support for the “RAW14” data format—offering theoretically four times the tonal range of 12-bit RAW—Bluetooth LE audio hearing aid support, the introduction of an always-on-top “picture-in-picture” feature for “Desktop Mode,” improved performance and battery efficiency, and settings to exclude specific apps from VPN routing. Specific bug fixes included in the “Android 17 Beta 3” release have not yet been announced.
Following the “Android 17 Beta 3” update, the build number will be “CP21.260306.017,” the Android security patch will be dated “March 5, 2026,” and the “Google Play services” app will be updated to v26.02.35 or later.

The “Android 17 Beta” is expected to reach platform stability around the time of the next release, “Android 17 Beta 4.”

Additionally, regarding last year’s “Android 16,” the major “Android 16” update was released in Q2 2025, followed by its minor update, “Android 16 QPR2,” in Q4. Similarly, for the next-generation “Android 17” OS, the major “Android 17” update is scheduled for release in Q2 2026, with the minor update, “Android 17 QPR2 (tentative),” scheduled for Q4 2026.
