The Android “Google Maps Go” app received an update to version v165.0 on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, marking its first logo refresh in six years. This new logo is based on the redesigned original “Google Maps” logo, which was also updated after six years and features a Google AI “Gemini”-style gradient where red, yellow, green, and blue blend seamlessly.

“Google Maps Go” is a lightweight version of the “Google Maps” app that retains almost all the basic functionality of the original while significantly reducing the app’s data footprint. A key characteristic is that it runs via “Chrome.”
Notably, the v165.0 update for the Android “Google Maps Go” app only includes the logo change and does not introduce any new features. In fact, this is the first update for the “Google Maps Go” app in two and a half years, since mid-October 2023.
