Starting around March 2026, Google has begun rolling out “Notifications for nearby places” in the Android version of the Google Wallet app.

This new feature, introduced in the Android version of Google Wallet, utilizes “precise location” services—a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile networks available on Android 12 and later devices—to provide notifications about nearby spots. It appears that the app will send notifications based on payment services and pass information stored in your Google Wallet as you approach relevant locations.

It is expected that these “notifications for nearby places” will provide helpful information, such as special offers. To set up this feature, simply tap the “Get notified when you’re near a place saved in your Wallet” banner located at the bottom of the Google Wallet home screen and follow the on-screen instructions to set your location permissions to “Always allow” or similar.
