On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Google announced new features for “Gemini in Google Drive”—the integration of its AI, Gemini, into the Google Workspace cloud storage service—dubbed “AI Overviews” and “Ask Gemini in Drive.”
The new “AI Overviews” feature for Gemini in Google Drive allows users to perform searches using natural, conversational language in the Drive search bar. It then displays an AI-generated summary at the top of the search results, including citations. This enables users to instantly grasp answers to their search queries without needing to open individual files.
“Ask Gemini in Drive” is a feature that allows users to ask complex questions within Google Drive. For example, when asked questions like, “What should I ask my tax accountant before filing my taxes?” Gemini provides detailed answers based on the data within your stored files.
The newly announced “AI Overviews” and “Ask Gemini in Drive” features are being rolled out in beta for Google Workspace accounts, as well as for members of the Google One AI Premium plans (“Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra”). At this time, the features are exclusively available in U.S. English.
