Gemini in Google Sheets: An Update to Make Creation Easier

Key Points of This Article
  • Google has announced an update to “Gemini in Google Sheets” that makes creating spreadsheets easier.
  • “Gemini” can now retrieve information from related files and emails to generate spreadsheets that match your specific instructions.
  • The update is rolling out as a beta, initially in English, for Google Workspace accounts as well as Google One “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra” members.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Google announced an update to “Gemini in Google Sheets,” the integration of the Google AI “Gemini” into the spreadsheet service of the groupware “Google Workspace,” designed to make spreadsheet creation even easier.

With this update to “Gemini in Google Sheets,” you can simply provide a prompt in the “Gemini side panel”—for example: “I’m planning a move to Shibuya. Create a spreadsheet with a checklist for packing each room, a list of utility contact information, and a way to track moving company quotes from my inbox.” Gemini will then retrieve relevant information from your files and emails to generate a spreadsheet tailored to your request. You can also give instructions to add tables, charts, and more to existing Google Sheets files.

Creating a Health Tracker

Furthermore, the updated “Gemini in Google Sheets” allows you to create personalized health trackers. By using a spreadsheet that logs your daily workout data, you can have Gemini adjust your workouts and nutrition to align with your overall health goals.

“Gemini in Google Sheets” Update

Additionally, “Fill with Gemini” is being rolled out, which can instantly generate custom text, categorize or summarize data, and retrieve real-time information from Google Search. With “Fill with Gemini,” you can perform various tasks, such as labeling financial management data to better organize and track your income and expenses.

These newly announced updates to “Gemini in Google Sheets” are being released as a beta, initially in an English-language environment, for Google Workspace accounts and for Google One members with “Google AI Pro” or “Google AI Ultra” memberships.
