On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Google announced six new features for Android as part of the “New Android Features” update for March 2026.
The six features announced for the March 2026 update include “Real-time Location” in Google Messages, location link sharing with partner airlines for Find Hub-compatible Bluetooth trackers, “Calling Cards” for outgoing calls in the Phone by Google app, “Google Play Shorts” (short-form video content) within the Android Play Store, new Teacher-Approved games for Android Auto, and expanded variations for “Emoji Kitchen.” Features such as “Real-time Location” and outgoing “Calling Cards” have already begun rolling out.
“Real-time Location” in Google Messages
The new “Real-time Location” feature in Google Messages is a location-sharing capability powered by the “Find Hub” positioning service.
Previously, users had to start sharing their location via the Google Maps app and then select the Android Google Messages app to choose a recipient. Now, you can trigger “Real-time Location” directly from within the Google Messages app for Android.

Location Link Sharing with Find Hub Partner Airlines
Until now, if a user attached a Find Hub-compatible Bluetooth tracker to checked luggage and it went missing, they had to track the location themselves to find it.
With this new update, users can share the location link of their Find Hub-compatible Bluetooth tracker with partner airlines, allowing airline staff to assist in locating the luggage. The current list of 11 international partner airlines includes: Air India, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, China Airlines, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City, Saudia, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), SWISS, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines.

“Calling Cards” for Outgoing Calls in Phone by Google
The “Calling Card” feature in the Phone by Google app allows users to customize information for each contact in their Google Contacts, ensuring clear identification when receiving a call.
Now, users can also set a “Calling Card” for outgoing calls. This allows the person making the call to display their custom Calling Card to the recipient.

Short-form Video Content: “Google Play Shorts”
The Android version of the Google Play Store app is introducing “Google Play Shorts,” a short-form video feature that allows users to discover apps by watching quick clips demonstrating how they work or what they offer.
Google Play Shorts will launch soon, initially featuring content for wellness apps, photo apps, shopping apps, and vertical webtoon manga apps.

New Teacher-Approved Games for Android Auto
New games for children aged 3 to 12 are being added to Google’s car operating system, Android Auto.
The lineup includes titles such as “Disney Coloring World,” “LetraKid: Writing ABC for Kids,” “Marvel HQ: Kids Super Hero Fun,” “Draw a Stickman: EPIC 3,” and various educational games focusing on numbers, math, and puzzles for young children.
Expanded Variations for “Emoji Kitchen”
Google has announced an expansion of its “Emoji Kitchen” feature, which allows users to combine two emojis to create a brand-new one.
New, expressive combinations like “🧀+🌹” and “🎷+🦨” have been added. Emoji Kitchen is available through the Gboard app for Android.
