Gemini App Extensions: Google Workspace Spec Change Verification

Key Points of This Article
  • Confirmed that a minor specification change has been applied to “App Connections” (formerly Gemini Extensions) within the “Gemini” app starting around late February 2026.
  • “Google Keep,” “Google Calendar,” and “Google Tasks” have been removed from the display items under “Google Workspace.”
  • The “Google Workspace” display items are now limited to three: “Gmail,” “Google Docs,” and “Google Drive.”

I have confirmed that a minor specification change has been rolling out since late February 2026 for “App Connections (formerly Gemini Extensions)” in Google’s AI “Gemini” app.

The specification change identified in “App Connections” relates to the display items under “Google Workspace.” Previously, “Gmail,” “Google Keep,” “Google Docs,” “Google Calendar,” “Google Tasks,” and “Google Drive” were shown. However, in the Android version of the “Gemini” app, “Google Keep,” “Google Calendar,” and “Google Tasks” have been removed, leaving only “Gmail,” “Google Docs,” and “Google Drive.”

As of now, no such change has been confirmed for the Web or iOS versions of the “Gemini” app’s “App Connections.” Furthermore, the Official Google Help page has not yet made any mention of this update.

For context, “App Connections” in the “Gemini” app serves as the integration setting for compatible Google services. For “Google Workspace,” it allows the AI to extract information from sources like your Gmail history or files stored in Google Drive.

“App Connections” in the “Gemini” app has undergone several specification changes in the past. Notably, services such as “Google Search,” “Google Flights,” “Google Hotels,” “Google Maps,” and “YouTube” used to have ON/OFF toggles within the settings. Now, these are integrated into the “Gemini” app by default, and their settings have been removed from the “App Connections” menu.

The fact that “Google Keep,” “Google Calendar,” and “Google Tasks” have been removed from “App Connections” in the Android version may suggest that these services are also being integrated into the “Gemini” app by default.
