On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Google announced “Multi-step Tasks,” a new feature for the Google AI app “Gemini.”
Multi-step Tasks is an automated task execution feature that operates in the background. By simply asking the Gemini app, it can automatically handle tasks such as hailing a ride on a rideshare app or reordering items from a food delivery app in the background.
Because Multi-step Tasks run in the background, users can continue other activities like watching videos or browsing the web while the task is being completed.
The new Multi-step Tasks feature is currently available for a limited number of applications, such as rideshare and food delivery apps. For transparency and control, users can also stop a task while it is in progress.
Multi-step Tasks will first be rolled out as a beta version for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in the United States and South Korea.
