On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Google announced that it is expanding the “Scam Detection” feature of the “Phone by Google” app to Samsung devices. This feature was previously available for Google Pixel devices from the Pixel 9 series onwards (excluding the Pixel 9a).

Scam Detection in the “Phone by Google” app is a user protection feature where AI (Gemini Nano) screens the caller’s conversation in real-time. If a call is flagged as a suspicious scam, the system alerts the user via beeps and on-screen notifications both at the start of and during the call. It provides warnings for traditional scams as well as the increasingly common “Fake Police Scams” (specialized fraud), where callers impersonate police officers and pressure victims into transferring money by threatening them with arrest.

While Scam Detection in the “Phone by Google” app is currently officially rolling out in the US, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and the UK, it is also available in Japan for users who have joined the “Beta Program” for the Phone by Google app.
