On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Google Japan launched “Pixel Care+,” a new device protection service that replaces the previous “Preferred Care.” This service follows its initial U.S. rollout in August 2025.
The new “Pixel Care+” is a paid device protection program for products sold on the Google Store, including Google Pixel devices from the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold onwards, Google Pixel Watch models from the Pixel Watch 2 onwards, and Fitbit products. It offers benefits like free battery replacements and repairs with zero out-of-pocket costs. The service is based on the offerings of “Asurion,” a global provider of device insurance, repair, and support partnered with Google. Similar to “Preferred Care,” the cost varies depending on the device.
For purchases through the Google Store, “Pixel Care+” offers two payment options: a “Monthly Plan” (extendable for up to 60 months) and a “2-Year Upfront Plan.” The core coverage includes free screen repairs and battery replacements, unlimited accidental damage protection, in-store repair services, priority expert support, rapid replacement shipping, and the reliability of genuine Google parts.
Additionally, customers can opt for the “Loss and Theft Protection Plan,” an extra coverage tier designed to provide security in the event a device is lost or stolen.

You can sign up for “Pixel Care+” within 30 days of your purchase from the Google Store via the Google Store website or the “My Pixel” app. Furthermore, preparations appear to be underway to allow enrollment for devices purchased from channels other than the Google Store in the future.
