On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Google released the latest update for “What’s new in Google Home,” which summarizes the new features and bug fixes deployed every few weeks for the “Google Home” smart home service.
In the “What’s new in Google Home” update released on February 17, 2026, three primary new features were announced: the addition of “Actions” to “Automations” for smart home speakers and displays such as “Google Home,” “Nest Hub,” and “Nest Audio”; usability improvements for the Android and iOS “Google Home” apps; and functional enhancements for the web version of “Google Home.” With the addition of “Actions” for smart speakers and displays, users can now set up routines simply by selecting from a pre-defined list—such as “Tell me the time,” “Tell me today’s weather,” or “Tell a joke”—without the need to create custom commands as was previously required.
Regarding usability improvements for the Android and iOS “Google Home” apps, users can now delete default preset routines like “Good morning,” “Good night,” and “I’m leaving” from the routine list. Additionally, long-pressing a specific routine in the “Automations” tab will now display a menu to send bug reports or feedback directly to Google for that particular item.
For the web version of “Google Home,” functional improvements now allow users to download video history from network cameras like “Nest Cam” as a single file of up to 5 minutes. Previously, video history was split into multiple short clips during the download process.
