On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Google officially announced the expanded rollout of cross-platform interoperability between Android’s proximity sharing feature, “Quick Share,” and Apple’s “AirDrop” for the Pixel 9 series.
Interoperability between Quick Share and AirDrop was first unlocked on November 20, 2025, for Google Pixel devices including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This feature allows for the mutual sending and receiving of files between the Pixel 10 series’ Quick Share and AirDrop on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Now, this Quick Share and AirDrop interoperability has been expanded to the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Unfortunately, the Pixel 9a is excluded from this update.
The Quick Share and AirDrop integration on the Pixel 9 series is powered by the “Quick Share Extension” app and functions similarly to the Pixel 10 series. However, it is currently being released as a staged rollout, so it may not be available to all users immediately.
