In 2025, for Google Pixel devices from the Pixel 6 onwards, Google delivered two software updates in a single year for the first time in Android’s history: the “Android 16” major update in the second quarter (April–June) and the “Android 16 QPR2” minor update in the fourth quarter (October–December). Similarly, for 2026, the next-generation “Android 17” will follow this pattern, with a major update in Q2 (April–June) and a minor update in Q4 (October–December). The target devices will be Google Pixel models from the Pixel 6 and later.
