On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Google began rolling out “Audio Summaries” for document files as a new feature within “Gemini in Google Docs,” the AI-integrated service for Google Docs powered by Google Gemini.
The new “Audio Summaries” in “Gemini in Google Docs” is similar to the “Audio Overview” feature in “NotebookLM,” allowing users to listen to a summary of a document file via audio. Even for documents with multiple tabs, it delivers a natural-sounding summary lasting several minutes.
This new feature also includes customization settings that allow you to select a preferred voice from options such as Narrator, Persuader, or Coach. Of course, you can also adjust the playback speed.

The “Audio Summaries” feature in “Gemini in Google Docs” is a premium offering available to Google Workspace accounts as well as members of the Google One AI plans, specifically “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra.” It will not be available to standard Google users.
