- This is being rolled out starting with version 26.05 of the Google Play services app for Android.
In the Google System Release Notes—a summary of the Google System Updates aimed at improving the security and reliability of Android-related devices, published on Tuesday, February 10, 2026—Google announced enhancements to the setup features for connecting and initializing Google Home products on Android devices.
With these improvements to the Google Home setup on Android, specific instructions for each Google Home product will be shown through illustrations and videos on the screen. This means that setting up Google Home products will become even more intuitive and easier to understand than before.
For example, resetting a Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max requires actions such as holding down both the volume [+] and [-] buttons simultaneously for over 10 seconds, but currently, the Google Home app does not provide specific guidance for this operation during the process. Moving forward, however, such initialization procedures for Google Home products will be clearly explained using illustrations and videos.
These improvements to Google Home setup on Android devices are being rolled out with version 26.05 or later of the Google Play services app for Android.
