On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Google announced the upcoming release of “Android 17 Beta 1,” the first beta version of the next-generation Android OS, “Android 17.”
“Android 17 Beta 1” is built on “Android 16 QPR” and includes the latest bug fixes, as well as improvements to stability and performance. The software update will be delivered Over-the-Air (OTA) to the following Google Pixel devices enrolled in the “Android Beta Program“: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
If you wish to opt out of the “Android Beta Program” and return to stable software updates without wiping your device before applying the Android 17 Beta 1 update, it is recommended to opt out now, ignore the downgrade notification, and wait for the upcoming “Android 16 QPR3” update. If you choose to return to regular software updates after applying the Android 17 Beta 1 update, you will need to opt out and apply a downgrade, which will require a full device factory reset.
For reference, last year’s “Android 16 Beta 1” was released on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Compared to that, this year’s release of “Android 17 Beta 1” appears to be arriving slightly later.
