Key Points of This Article
  • Nothing has released an official video featuring an interview with CEO Carl Pei, conducted by Community Director Rob Godwin.
  • There are no plans to release the new flagship smartphone, “Phone (4),” in 2026.
  • However, the next-generation “Phone (4a)” will be released as part of the particularly popular “a” series.

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, Nothing released an official interview video where Community Director Rob Godwin speaks with CEO Carl Pei.

In this newly released interview, Carl Pei reflects on 2025 and discusses the outlook for 2026. According to the video, Nothing became a “unicorn”—a private company with a valuation exceeding $1 billion—during the course of 2025.

It was also officially announced that there are no plans to release a new flagship smartphone, the “Phone (4),” this year in 2026. Nothing will continue to position the “Phone (3)” as its flagship throughout 2026, focusing its strategy primarily on upgrades, such as refinements to its custom “Nothing OS” and new features for its proprietary apps.

However, Pei explicitly stated that the “Phone (4a)” will be released as the next-generation model in the highly popular “a” series. The “Phone (4a)” is expected to introduce significant improvements in materials, design, display, and camera performance, bringing it much closer to flagship levels than previous “a” series models.

Meanwhile, it was also mentioned that smartphone prices will be increased to reflect the record-high cost of memory, driven by the surge in AI demand. Even so, Nothing intends to maintain a focus on cost-performance as much as possible, differentiating its products through unique design and exclusive features.

Additionally, Nothing recently announced that it will open its first retail store in India on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Bengaluru (MAP). As part of that announcement, the company officially revealed plans to open new flagship stores in Tokyo and New York. In the latest interview video, Carl Pei touched on this topic, confirming that they are currently in the process of scouting for store locations.
