On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Google announced a major update to “Gemini in Chrome,” its Google AI-integrated browser service for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus.
In this major update to “Gemini in Chrome,” the most intelligent AI model, “Gemini 3,” is introduced. Additionally, AI image generation using the “Nano Banana” model will be available through the new side panel, which allows users to access “Gemini” at all times while browsing.
Previously, using AI image generation in “Gemini” required downloading an image and re-uploading it to the service. However, with the new side panel, AI image generation can be executed directly within the panel simply by entering an image editing prompt while viewing images on a web page encountered during your browsing session.
Please note that “Gemini in Chrome” for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus is currently being rolled out specifically for the United States.
