- RAW editing for the web version of Google Photos has finally begun rolling out from late December 2025 through early 2026.
- A new “RAW Photo Editor” option has been added to the settings.
- You can now download RAW photos as original RAW files from the web version of Google Photos, allowing for editing in software that supports RAW formats.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, Google announced RAW photo editing support as a new feature for the web version of its online photo library service, Google Photos.
While the RAW editing support for the web version was initially stated to be rolling out gradually at the time of the announcement, it appears to have finally begun its full rollout between late December 2025 and early 2026. Once the web version of Google Photos supports RAW editing, a new “RAW Photo Editor” section will be added to the settings.

Previously, when editing RAW photos in the web version of Google Photos, the files were first converted to JPG for editing, meaning the service did not technically support native RAW editing. Furthermore, downloading RAW photos would also result in a converted JPG file rather than the original RAW data.
However, the web version of Google Photos now allows users to download RAW photos as actual RAW files, enabling editing with any software that supports RAW file formats. Additionally, similar to the Android version of the Google Photos app, users can set ” Lightroom,” ” Adobe Photoshop,” or ” Photopea” as their default RAW editor to perform RAW file editing directly from Google Photos on the web.
